International Flute Competition "Domenico Cimarosa"

XIII Edition

RULE

The "Domenico Cimarosa" International Flute Contest, held every two years, will take place in Aversa, Italy (the hometown of the famed Italian composer), 12 through 14 April 2023.
Application is limited to flutists of any nationality born after 31 December 1971, and the contest is composed of three rounds:

"QUALIFYING ROUND " for only flute;
"SEMIFINALS" featuring accompaniment on piano;
"FINAL" in the form of a Concert featuring a Piano.

The application form, duly completed and scanned, must be sent to the Mail: info@concorsocimarosa.it no later than March 6 2023 enclosing the following attachments:

1) Applicant's résumé;
2) List of selected compositions;
3) Two passport-size photos;
4) Copy of an identification document of the flutist;
5) Copy of payment of Euro 120,00 (non refundable) as enrolment fee, by means of cashier's cheque made out to : Fabio Di Lella - Via Francesco Landino, 15 - 00124 Roma(RM) - Italia

Incomplete applications will be discarded.

Candidates, with their identification documents, must present themselves at "Auditorium Casa Cimarosa" Piazza Principe Amedeo, 4, 81031 Aversa Caserta - venue of the Competition - at 9.00 a.m. on 12 April 2023 to participate according to the order of registration.

Applicants selected for the semifinals may be accompanied by the pianist provided by the Contest Board and Each applicant may spend up to 20 minutes with the pianist in order to agree on the composition to play.
However, it will be possible for applicants to be accompanied by a pianist of their own choice (no fees for the Contest Board will be applicable), and that option will need to be specified on the initial application form.
All performances will be open to the public; the final performance will be held as a public concert on 14 Arpil 2023 at 3:00 pm at "Auditorium Hotel del Sole" in Aversa, Italy.
The winner will play at a public concert with the Piano on 14 April 2023 at 6:30 pm at the Chiesa Monumentale di S. Francesco - via S. Francesco - Aversa, Italy.
The judgement of the Panel is final.
The Panel reserves the right not to bestow any award in case performance by all applicants is deemed as artistically unsatisfactory.
In case of any controversy, the only valid rules will be those written in Italian. The registration fee, if the candidate is absent, will not be refunded.
The court of jurisdiction for any litigation will be the Law Courts of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, Italy.
All competition participants are invited to perform as a flute ensemble in the final concert on 4 April at 7 pm. Musical parts will be sent to each contestant at the time of registration. The Flute Ensemble formation will be in collaboration with the Falaut Flute Orchestra and will be conducted by Maestro Gareth McLearnon.

2. G. P. Telemann: una fantasia (any one out of twelve, with ornate repetitions).

Public concert by the winner (with the Piano), 14 April 2023 at 6:30 pm at

HAYNES AWARD
The Wm. S. Haynes Co. donates a solid silver, handmade headjoint to go to the candidate the members of the jury decide would most benefit from a new headjoint. This may not necessarily be someone who progresses to the second or final round - but will be a player who it is agreed by the jury could make good use of a more sophisticated headjoint. Jury decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
